When do we use simple present


tense? (Cundo usamos presente simple?)
The simple present tense in English is used to describe an action that is regular,
true or normal.
El presente simple en ingls es usado para describir una accin que es frecuente,
verdadera o normal
For example: Por ejemplo
For repeated or regular actions in the present time period (Para acciones
repetitivas en un period actual)

Johnsleepseight hours every night during the week.


John duerme ocho horas cada noche durante la

For facts. (para hechos)

Verb Conjugation & Spelling


We form the present tense using the base form of the infinitive (without the TO).
(Usamos el presente simple usando el verbo en infinitive sin el TO)
In general, in the third person we add 'S' in the third person.
(En general, a las terceras personas agregamos s)

The spelling for the verb in the third person differs depending on the ending of that
verb:
1. For verbs that end in-O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X,or-Zwe add-ESin the third person.

Simple Present Tense
To make a negative sentence in English we normally useDon't or Doesn't
Para hacer una frase negative en presente simple normalmente usamos dont or
doesnt

Affirmative: You speak French.


Negative: Youdon'tspeak French.
You will see that we adddon'tbetween the subject and the verb. We
useDon'twhen the subject isI,you,weorthey.
(usamos dont entre el sujeto y el verbo. Y usamos dont cuando el sujeto
es I, YOU, WE o THEY)

When the subject ishe,sheorit, we adddoesn'tbetween the subject


and the verb to make a negative sentence.

To make a question in English we normally useDo or Does. It has no translation in
Spanish though it is essential to show we are making a question. It is normally put
at the beginning of the question.

Affirmative: You speak English.

You will see that we addDOat the beginning of the affirmative sentence to make it

Affirmative: He speaks French.
