Fabric Science: Topic: Presented by

The document summarizes various properties of fibers that can be evaluated, including fineness, length, maturity, moisture content, and strength. It describes test methods for evaluating moisture content, including the oven dry method and electrical method. It also outlines tests for other properties like strength, fineness, length, and maturity.

Moisture
Content

There are several methods for the

evaluation of moisture content.
Today we took in consideration only
two methods.

Oven Dry Method

B. Electrical Method

Drying

Conditioning oven

Electrical
Method

The electrical method of determining

the moisture content of wood uses
the relationships between moisture
content and measurable electrical
properties

Advantages
The principal advantages of the
electrical method compared with the
oven-drying method are speed and
convenience. Only a few seconds are
required for the determination, and
the piece of wood being tested is not
cut or damaged, except for driving
electrode needle points into the
wood when using conductance-type
meters.
