When the if clause uses the verb To Be (is, am, are),


It usually take the form were

Analyze these sentences based on the formula


e.g:
If they had more stores, they would reach more customers.

The second conditional sentence is used to talk about


unreal,
impossible or unlikely situations or imagination.
e.g:
If I had lots of money, I would buy my own private island and build
2 castles there.
If I were Aburizal Bakries son, I would buy Manohara a private jet
and ask her to marry me.
If I were your lover, I would never disappoint you and I would
always be there to hold you in my arm no matter what.

IF

The fact is:


I dont have lots of money so I cannot buy my own
private island and build 2 castles there.
I am not Aburizal Bakries son so I cant buy Manohara a
private jet and ask her to marry me.
I am not your lover, So I cannot do what I have promised
you and I can not always be there to hold you in my arm
no matter what.
