Non-recyclables/residuals

Compostable wastes are biodegradable

wastes such as food waste, garden waste and
animal waste.
Examples are:
Fruit and vegetable peelings, leftover foods,
vegetable
trims,
fish/fowl/meat/animal
entrails/, soft shells, seeds, leaves, etc.

Recyclable materials refer to any waste material

retrieved from the waste stream and free from
contamination that can still be converted into
suitable beneficial use.
Examples are:
Newspaper, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap
metals, corrugated cardboard, aluminum, tin
cans, glass, papers, etc.

Compostable wastes need not leave the home. There are

many practical ways of managing compostable waste.
This will require the re-use of certain discarded materials.

Use less of the items
needed to avoid waste:
cook / buy less food, use
less chemicals at home or
elsewhere
buy in bulk
avoid printing too many
copies
cut down on water use
dont

REUSE
Use old object in a new
way:
bring your bag to the
supermarket
use washable cups and
mugs
donate unwanted clothing,
goods repair old equipment
or
buy second hand upgrade

RECYCLE
Use old object to make
new product:
Glass, plastic, aluminum,
motor oil, batteries, paper,
tire
turn kitchen waste to
compost and glass, plastic,
newspaper, and straw into
products.

We can make a difference . . .

Recycle cans, bottles, plastic bags and newspapers.
When you recycle, you help save natural resources.
Generate as little trash as possible, because trash in
landfill sites emit large quantities of methane, and if
burned, carbon dioxide is released.

Consume
less,
more, live simply.
