How to manage the classroom

Students ages: 5 & 6


English Lesson (Describe themselves)
Introducing the topic
The teacher introduces the new topic to students to let them know what
the class is about. (How to describe themselves throughout personal
pronouns).
The teacher explains the importance of the topic (to say if they are short or
tall, to say or talk about their ages and so on).
To catch students attention the teacher uses her voice (up and down),
contrasts students L1, and focuses on expanding the topic with more
words (adjectives).
The teacher repeats and makes students repeat after her.

Language challenge

The teacher asks students repeat the words they are


learning in the classroom to be aware of their knowledge.
Students respond willingly to the teacher and show their
enthusiasm.
The teacher makes students stand up to practice what
they have learnt with activities.

Group work
To reinforce their knowledge, students are given
pictures and pieces of paper which contain all whole
vocabulary learnt.
Students match the pictures with the pieces of paper
and the teacher supervises all the time to give them
feedback.
The teacher does this to notice if they are able to
built right sentences.
Teacher asks students to write the sentences they
have built to make students learning stronger.

Skills
Students are able to learn through metacognitive and
social- affective strategies.
Teacher uses metacognitive strategies to help students
remember words by repetition. and it is also done for
students to find the activities enjoyable.
Social- affective strategies are done for students to find
the activities enjoyable(the activities include dancing
around, praising for their response).
Students engage with the class and show their
competence in the language doing the activities asked
by the teacher.
