Germs are tiny living things that can make you sick. Most germs, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and worms, are microscopic and require a microscope to be seen. These microbes cause a variety of illnesses in humans, such as strep throat, flu, athlete's foot, malaria, and more. Proper hygiene like handwashing and avoiding contact with sick individuals can help prevent the transmission and spread of infectious germs.
