Pyuria

Pyuria refers to the presence of white blood cells or pus in the urine. It is most commonly caused by a urinary tract infection but can also be due to other infections, renal stones, tuberculosis, or cancer if no infection is present. Common symptoms include cloudy urine, pain or discomfort when urinating, and fever. Laboratory tests like a urinalysis and urine culture can detect white blood cells in the urine and identify any causative organisms. Treatment depends on the underlying cause but usually involves a course of antibiotics if a bacterial infection is found.
