Calculating Speed Time and Distance

Speed, distance, and time are calculated using three formulas. The formulas relate speed, distance, and time using a triangle with speed at one point, distance at another, and time at the third point. Examples are provided to demonstrate calculating speed from distance and time, distance from speed and time, and time from distance and speed.

Speed, Distance & Time

Speed, Distance, Time

Calculations

The aim of this lesson is to

be able to use the correct
formulas to calculate
speed, distance or time

Reminder: How to change minutes into a decimal

15 mins = 025 hour

So: 3 hours 15 mins = 325 hours

30 mins = 05 hour
So: 7 hours 30 mins = 75 hours

45 mins = 075 hour

So: 2 hours 45 mins = 275 hours
