1. Foreign Language Teaching Method
The Foreign language teaching methods which emerged in
the early history with the designer method.
This method designed which enabled language practitioners are
communicative,interactive,eclectic approach to language
teaching.
Currently , Foreign language teaching method with the
versions of CLT(Communicative language teaching) used the
new concept that have become popular such as : whole
language education,content centered education,interactive
learning, active learning ,task based learning ,competency
based,etc.
2. Genre-Based Approach
Genre-based approach is designed based on
contructivism,especially vygotskys ideas. This method
popularized as curriculum cycle.
There are Four phases essential for developing control of a
genre may be identified, namely : Context Exploration,Text
Exploration based on model texts,Joint construction of a text, and
individual application. This phases resembles the pre-
listening/reading/speaking/writing to be typical in CLT.
The main goal of the genre-based curriculum cycle is to help
student to understand some aspects such as : the social purpose of
the chosen genre, the contextual factors influencing the
production of the texts, and the text themselves.
According to Tomlinson, style in language learning which
need to be catered in language learning materials include :
(Visual,Auditory,Kinesthetic,Studial,Experiental,
Analytic,global,Dependent,and independent).
Learner situation is another important aspect that must be
taken into consideration. The some factors such as : (1) The
dynamics of the classroom,(2) the personalities involved,(3) the
contraints imposed by the syllabus,(4) the availability of
resources, and (5) the expectation and motivation of the learners.
3. Principle of Designing English Syllabus
The principles of designing syllabus in KTSP are :
1.)Scientific,2.)Relevant,3.)systematic,4.)consistent ,5.)adequate,
6.)recent and contextual,7.) holistic, and 8.) flexible.
4. Principle of English Learning
Some basic principles of language learning :
1.) Language learning is a developmental process
2.) Language Learning is an active process
3.) Language Learning is a decision-making process
4.) Language learning is not just a matter of linguistic knowledge
5.) Language learning is not the learners first experience with language
6.) Language learning is an emotional experience.
5. Techniques of using video materials
The possible technical solutions of using video for language teaching
are by : Freezing the frame, Turning off the sound, Turning of the
image,Using slow motions, and Using speeded-up motions.
The process of using video materials in language teaching :
1.)Exploration Stage (activities before watching the video). Such as :
Guessing and prediction.
2.)Exploration Stage(Activities done while watching the video) Such as
: Collecting words and phrases related to the video,Elaborating
vocabulary, Paraphrashing,Matching, Labeling the video capture,
Multiple choice exercises,Collecting pieces of information,Gap-
filling,Completion of text, Sequencing, Answeing questions,
Choosing True or false, and Filling in charts or tables.
3.) Confirmation stage :Exercise are done as a follow action.
6. Assessing Speaking
No skill is so difficult to assess as speaking ability ,such as:
a.) Competencies, such as : Meaning of interpersonal(for
socialization) and transactional( to get things done)intends,
meaning through short functional texts, and meaning through
monolog of long functional texts.
b.) Principle of speaking Assessment
1. Pronounciation(Including segmental and supra segmental
features
2. Grammar (the employment of syntatical structure)
3. Vocabulary( the diction(choices of word) )
4. Fluency
5. Comprehension ( Understandability of the speech ).ssssss
