Design of Exhaust Heat Recovery Power Generation System On Automobile

The document discusses designing an exhaust heat recovery power generation system for a motorcycle using a thermoelectric generator. The main aims are to design and develop a power generation system that captures wasted heat from the motorcycle exhaust using thermoelectric technology. A literature review covers previous work on exhaust heat recovery for internal combustion engines and experimental analysis of thermoelectric waste heat recovery systems retrofitted to two-stroke petrol engines. Important figures to the design include a diagram of a thermoelectric generator and image of a Peltier module.

DESIGN OF EXHAUST HEAT RECOVERY

POWER GENERATION SYSTEM ON

AUTOMOBILE
AIM OF PROJECT

The main aim of our project is to design and develop a power

generation system using the exhaust heat of an bike by
thermoelectricgenerator(TEG).
ABSTRACT

The Internal combustion engine is the only type of combustion engines used in
India for the manufacture of two wheelers. The power served for drive a vehicle is
one-third of energy in fuel and the remaining will be eliminated as an hot waste
gases through exhaust. In our project, we make the use of exhaust heat for power
production by seebeck effect(when two different metal temperatures are joined
together then an emf will exist) an thermocouple will be made and then the
thermoelectricgenerator(conversion of heat energy directly into electrical energy)
will be set for power production and then this power is transferred to battery
through DC-DC converter as an charge.
