Evaluation Question 3

Emap would be a suitable institution to distribute my pop music magazine called "Tune". Emap has experience with popular magazines like Smash Hits and distributes across different media platforms. They own radio stations that could promote "Tune" and their magazines have an online presence suited to reaching my target audience of 15-20 year olds who are active on social media. Emap's broad portfolio of magazines could also expose "Tune" to a wider audience.

Evaluation Question 3

Which institution would be

suitable for my product?
I think that a suitable institution for my magazine would be Emap. This is
because Emap has a widely spread range of magazine products in
different genres meaning if they advertise it they can advertise not only
my target audience but maybe intrigue others to read it as well due to
the fact of them being popular in media.
The institution is massively feared as a competitor in media world. Many
successful magazines come from this institution such as Smash Hits
magazine which was a popular magazine for 28years. Smash hits was a
pop magazine which is the same genre as my magazine Tune.
This shows that they would know how to keep my product going as they
did it before. People who listen to pop music would be teenagers and
young adults which are my target audience of 15-20yearolds because
they like to know the most current and up to date music out there.
However Bauer took this for 1.4billion making the German magazine
publisher the largest in Britain
Evaluation Question 3

History of the institution.

In 1947, Emap formed as an original news paper
group
In 1990, they got into radio with the station Kiss
FM based in London
In 1998, Empad recieved London radio station
Melody FM and renamed the station to Magic
105.4

Emap acquires the web based subscription

fashion information business (WGSN) for 140m
Evaluation Question 3

Do they have opportunities for the magazine

to be marketed using other media forms such
as radio or internet?
For Tune magazine they would have
radio opportunities this is due to the fact
Emap has its consumer magazines and
radio arm including things like Magic
and Kiss.
Also, if Tune manages to get on the
internet people from social media will
use it and people who mainly use social
networking are people from my target
audience of 15-20yearolds.
