This document discusses the stages of conflict. It begins with potential opposition or incompatibility, which can then be perceived as conflict. This leads to cognition and personalization as individuals think about the conflict. There are then various intentions for how to handle the conflict, such as competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, or accommodating. These intentions influence behaviors between the parties. The interaction and behaviors result in outcomes that can either increase or decrease group performance.
