desires of the people or the society.
It is the complex field of commerce & Industry
* creates employment opportunities
* contributes to the economic growth of society
* improves standard of living
Changing Concept & Objectives
It is today regarded as a Social Institution.
Profit maximization to sales maximization.
Profits are necessary for the life and health of
any business organisation.

Profit should work as seed money for


promoting well being of all rich and poor,
privileged and less privileged, consumers and
producers, investors and non-investors..
Professionalisation:
Contributes to the growing social orientation
of business.
Makes business more efficient, dynamic and
socially responsible.
Wants:
Want is that desire which can be fulfilled and
which is backed by the ability and willingness
to fulfil or satisfy it.
Characteristics of wants:
unlimited, recurring, capable of being
satisfied.
vary in urgency, intensity & complimentary.
present wants appear more important than
the future .
knowledge increases wants.
wants are determined by social standards.
