Bleeding

This document discusses different types of bleeding, including external and internal bleeding. External bleeding occurs when skin is broken and blood leaks from a wound or cut. Internal bleeding occurs beneath the skin when blood leaks from damaged internal organs or broken bones. The body responds to bleeding through vessel constriction and clotting to slow blood loss. For external bleeding, direct pressure, elevation, and bandaging the wound are recommended. Internal bleeding may require monitoring breathing, treating for shock, and immediate medical care. Bruising is a form of internal bleeding that is usually not life-threatening.
