Notes On Motivation Leading

Motivation arises from personal and contextual factors and directs goal-oriented behavior. A simple model of motivation involves unfulfilled needs creating a desire that leads to motivating behaviors to satisfy those needs through rewards. Motivation is important for organizations because it influences employees to join, stay, attend work each day, engage while there, and do extra. Nonmonetary ways to motivate include providing work-life balance, opportunities to expand skills, and making employees feel their work matters. Positive reinforcement is an effective motivational technique when rewards follow promptly after desirable behaviors and it is clear what behaviors are desired or undesirable.
