Remya chandran II Semester NSS Training College • To monitor the administration of NIE /Regional colleges of Education.
• To undertake aid, promote and co-ordinate research in all
branches of education for improving school-education.
• To organize pre-service and in-service education
programmes for teachers.
• To prepare and publish study material for students and
related teacher’s handbooks. To search talented students for the award of scholarship in science, Technology and social sciences.
To undertake functions assigned by the Ministry
of education (Now HRD) for improving school – education Programmes and Activities of NCERT
• Research : The NCERT performs the
importance functions of conducting and supporting educational research and offering training in research methodology. The constituent institutions of NCERT undertake research programmes on different aspe cts of school education and teacher education . • Development: The major developmental activities include development and renewal of curricula and instructional materials for various levels of school education. It also undertaken in the domains of educational technology, population education, and education of the disabled and other special group. • Training : Pre-service and in-service training of teachers at various levels ;pre-primary ,elementary secondary and higher secondary , vocational education educational technology, guidance and counselling and special education are the areas of training in which NCERT works. • Extension : various departments of the NIE, RIE, CIET and PSSCIVE are engaged in organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, training etc in rural and backward areas where special educational problems exist and where special efforts are needed . • Publication and dissemination: NCERT publishes textbook for different school subjects for classes I to XII . It also brings out workbooks ,teachers ,guides, supplementary readers ,research reports etc. It also publishes the educational journals, viz journal of Indian Education and Indian Educational Review ,in addition to the periodicals Primary Teacher , school science , Bharatiya Adhunik Shiksha and • Exchange Programmes : The NCERT acts as a major agency for implementing the Bilateral Cultural Exchange Programmes entered into by the government of India with the governments of other countries in the fields of school education and teacher education. As a part of this , educational materials and faculty members are exchanged with other countries. Constituent Agencies of NCERT • The NCERT provides academic and technical support for improvement of school education through its various constituents : • National Institute of Education – NewDelhi • Central Institute of Education Technology CITE- NewDelhi • Pandit SunderlalSharma Central • Regional Institute of Education – RIES: Ajmer , Bhopal, Mysore ,Bhubaneswar and Shillong.
