predictable, and everyone has to be prepared to
deal with it.

• Ethical behavior in the workplace, the capacity to

practice honesty, respect, responsibility, fairness,
and compassion
ETHICAL DILEMMAS AT WORK
• An Ethical dilemma is a situation that requires a
choice regarding a possible course of action that
although offering the potential for personal or
organizational benefit, or both may be considered
unethical. It is often a situation in which action must
be taken but for which there is no clear consensus
on what is” right and wrong”. The burden is on the
individual to make good choices.
Types of Ethical Dilemma

a job candidate because of the candidate’s race,
religion, gender, age, or other relevant criteria.

uncomfortable because of inappropriate comments
or actions regarding sexuality; requesting sexual
favors in return for favorable job treatment.
Types of Ethical Dilemma
• Conflict of interest- taking a bribe or kickbacks or
extra ordinary gift in return for making a decision
favorable to the gift giver

• Customer confidence- giving to privileged

information regarding the activities of a customer.

• Organizational resources- using official stationery or

a company e-mail account to communicate personal
opinions or make requests from community
organizations.

illegal.
• Convincing your self that the behavior is in
everyone’s best interest.

what you’ve done.

“protect” you.
