LOCATION
Timah Tasoh Reservoir is located near the Thailand border. The reservoir has
a mean surface area of 13.33 km2 and a storage capacity of about 40 million m3.
The reservoir receives inputs from two main rivers, the Tasoh river and Pelarit
River combined basin area of 191 km2 and supply approximately 97 million m3
of water into the reservoir annually. The reservoir is shallow with a maximum
depth of 10m and submerged aquatic plants can be see along the shoreline and in
shallow areas.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
• The rainfall-runoff model will vary based on the purpose the modelling is being
done to understand the seasonal low flow characteristics for an in-stream
environmental need, to assess over-bank flow frequency, and to estimate overall
catchment yield on an average annual basis.
• The hydrological model selected, to reflect these requirements.
OBJECTIVES
hydrologic Models
Hydrological models are fundamentally utilized for hydrologic expectation and
for understanding hydrologic forms
These models are able to categories into three types, which are physical,
stochastic and matric-based models.
• In this study, IHACRES is used to simulate the inflow of Timah Tasoh catchments.
The data of rainfall and discharge are used to input of the model. During the
calibration in the parameters of the model are obtained.
• The performance of IHACRES is checked during validation process.
