Design of Bank Building in MSEC
Design of Bank Building in MSEC
In our college there are many students but in our campus there is no
adequate buildings for Bank. Thus our objective is to design a bank
for MSEC students bank includes all facilities such as Manager
Room, locker Room, counter, Document Room etc.,
The Proposed design of bank by using Auto CADD 2016 (plan and
reinforced concrete) and (design aids of reinforced concrete). The
design of these structural components are arrived at the end of the
project.
Site location - The proposed site is located on northern part of the
campus having a total area of around 1000sqft.
Planning - The plan of this structures satisfies the space needed for
Bank in the college campus.
Here, ﺡc<ﺡv
So, design for Shear Reinforcement.
Vus = Vu-ﺡcbwd
Vus = 8.5KN
Sv1 = 0.87fyAsvd/Vus
= 1253.05mm
Sv2 = 0.75*d
= 220mm
Sv3 = 300mm.
Provide 8mm ϕ bars @ 220mm c/c Spacing.
Check for deflection (depth) control:
(L/d)pro = (6096/20.8) =293mm
(L/d)max = Basic Value * Kt *Kc
(Kc=1- Refer fig 5 in IS456-2000)
Pt = 100Astpro/bfd
= 0.49%
fs = 0.58fy
= 0.58*415
= 240.7N/mm2
(Refer fig 4 in IS456-2000) ie; Kt = 1
(Refer fig 5 in IS456-2000) ie; Kc =1.1
(Refer fig 6 in IS456-2000) ie;Kf =0.85
(L/d)max = 20.8*1*1.1*0.85
= 19.45
Hence, (L/d)pro < (L/d)max
Hence safe.
REINFORCEMENT DETAIL:
Given Data:
Span = 6.096m
Df =125mm
fck = 20 N/mm^2
q = 3 KN/m
fy = 415 N/mm^2
width of column =300mm
Cross sectional dimensions:
L-Beam is subjected to bending, torsion and shear force. Assume trial
section, span/depth ratio
d = 6,906/20.8
= 293mm
D = 320mm,
bw =230mm
Effective span:
center of support = 7.326m
clear span +effective depth = 6.325m
Hence, L = 6.325m.
Load:
Self weight of slab = 4.6875KN/m
Floor finish = 0.75 KN/m
self weight of rib = 4.50KN/m
Live load = 3 KN/m
Total load = 15.4875 KN/m
Factored load = 23.23KN/m
Effective width of flange:
a) bf = [(Lo/b) +bw(6Df)]
= 605mm
b) Bf = bw +0.5 times of spacing between lines
= 1580mm
Hence,
bf = 605mm
Ultimate bending moment and shear force:
At support section,
Mu = 1.5(15.48*6.326^2)/12
=77.4KNM
Vu = 1.5(05*15.48*6.326)
=73.44KN
At center of span section,
Mu = 1.5(15.48*6.326) ^2/24
= 38.71KNM
Torsional moment at support section:
(working load / moment)-(self weight of rib)
= 15.48-4.50
= 10.98 KNM
⸫Total ultimate load on slab
= 1.5*(10.98*6.326)
= 104KN
Distance of centroid of shear force from center line of the beam
= (0.5*604)-115
= 187.5mm
Ultimate torsional moment
Tu = 78*0.187
= 14.5KNM
Equivalent bending moment &shear force:
Mel = (Mu+Mt)
Where,
Mt = Tu((1+(D/b))/1.7)
= 14.5((1+(320/230))/1.7)
= 20.39knm
Mel = 77.4+20.39
= 97.79kn
Ve = Vu+1.6(Tu/b)
= 73.44+1.6(14.5/0.23)
=174.30KN
Main longitudinal Reinforcement :
Mel = 97.79 KNM
Mulim = 0.138fctbd^2
= 0.138*20*230*293^2
= 54.49KNM
⸫ Mu > Mulim then the section is over reinforced
Mel = 087fy Ast d(1-((Ast*fy)/(bd*fck)))
97.89*10⁶ = 0.87*415*Ast*293(1-((Ast*415)/(300*293*20)))
= 1362.86mm^2
No. of bars = (1362.86/(π/4)12^2)
= 4nos of bars
Provide 4 nos of 12 mm dia bar at tension side
Ast min = 0.85 bw d/fy
= (0.85*230*293)/415
= 138mm
provide 2 bars of 8 mm dia bars
Side face reinforcement:
According to clause 26.5.1.7 in IS 456 code
⸫Area of reinforcement
= 0.001*230*320
= 73.6mm
Provide 10mm dia bars at 73.6mm at centre
Shear reinforcement :
τve = (Ve/(bw*d))
= (174.3*10^2)/(230*293)
= 2.02
from table 19 (IS456)
τc = 0.81N/mm^2 < τve
Hence shear reinforcement are required
Using 10mm dia two legged stirupps side cover of 25mm top
& bottom cover of 50mm
We have,
b1= 180mm
d1= 243mm
Asv = (2*78.5) = 157mm
Sv = ((Asv*0.87fy)/((τve-τc)n))
= (157*0.87*415)/((2.58-0.81)300)
= 106.75mm
Check for defletion control:
Pt = (100*1362)/(300*293)
= 1.049%
pc = (100*628)/(300*293)
= 0.71
bw/bf = 230/605
= 0.380
Kt = 1.2
Kc = 1.1
Kf = 0.8
(L/d)max = [(L/d)basic*Kt*Kc*Kf]
= [(9.20*1.2*1.1*0.8)]
=21.12
(L/d)actual = (8300/700)
=11.85
11.85<21.12
Hence deflection contrtol is satisfied.
