Numbering of Containers: By: Cedeño, Anthony Donado, Abel Chavez Emyrk Espinoza, Jonathan

The document discusses container numbering systems. Containers are identified through an 11-digit alphanumeric code according to ISO standards that indicates the owner and other details. The code is assigned by the Bureau International des Containers et du Transport Intermodal (BIC) and consists of the country code, owner code, and check digit. Containers may also have risk identification codes known as Kemler codes that indicate hazards like flammability, toxicity, or radioactivity to support safe transport. Proper identification of containers is important for efficient logistics and transport management.

Introduction

The container, as the main tool for

maritime transport, has presented in
recent years an unstoppable growth
and, therefore, for the improvement
of management have been created
control systems, including container
coding.
Identification of containers

It is done through a combination of 11-digit

alphanumeric according to ISO 6346 and ISO
2716.
BIC (International Office for Containers and
Intermodal Transport), which assigns a code for
each operating company.
BIC (International Office for
Containers and Intermodal
Transport)

• This institution, based in Paris, France, provides

each container with a code. The coding system
consists of several codes that allow to know,
among other details, the country of origin of the
container, the owner and the type of container.

Risk identification codes fixed in intermodal
containers:

Known as the "RISK NUMBERS" known as the kemler code, it can

be found in the upper half of an orange panel.
• The digits indicate the following risks:
• Emission of gases by chemical reaction
• inflammation of liquids
• oxidizing effect
• toxicity or risk of infection
• radioactivity
• corrocity
• Hazardous substances
Conclution

• With all these data it is possible to obtain the

necessary information for the correct transport of
the containers, rigor information for all transport
and logistics. In addition, containers often carry
inscription marks on the back and can carry
dangerous merchandise.
