Motion Analysis: Seminar On

The document discusses motion analysis and principles of motion economy. It defines motion as body movements, especially at joints. Motion study analyzes body motions during tasks to find more efficient ways of working. The objectives are to reduce cycle times, train operators, create permanent work records, and increase productivity and performance. Principles of motion economy include fully using the body's abilities, saving movements, and improving motions. The motion analysis procedure involves selecting operations, charting motions, identifying productive/idle motions, eliminating unnecessary motions, and redesigning procedures based on motion economy principles.

Motion Analysis
What is motion:
– Motion is the movements of a body parts.

What is motion study:

‒ Motion Study is a technique of analyzing the body motion employed
in doing a task.
What is the objectives of motion study:
 To find most efficient way of doing work.
 Helps to Reduce cycle time of bottleneck operation
 To train operator regarding motion economy.
 It is permanent means of keeping record of method.
 It helps to increase the overall Productivity .
 It helps to increase the Operator Performance.
Body Movement:
Body movement is the motion of all or some parts of the body especially at a joint
or joints.

Classification of Movements

The basic principle

• The principle of active energy use

• The principle of saving movement
• Principles of motion improvement
The principle of active energy use

• In all parts of the human body, those who can have the
ability to move parts, no matter what, want to fully use.
• Feet or left hand can do things, do not use the right hand.
• Try to make both hands work at the same time, but also
the end of the action.
• Do not let your hands stand still at the same time. When
your hands are free, mind your brain to think about
another job.
The principle of saving movement
• Excessive amount of exercise, not only a waste of time and
space, but also physical exertion.
• Try to use small movements to work. Body movement in
order for the wrist, anterior wrist or hand, fingers, can use a
small exercise, should be used as little exercise.
• Materials and equipment's should be placed within the reach
point, and try to close at hand.
• The number of small unit movements should be minimized.
• Tools should be simplified and easy to use.
• Materials and parts should be easy to use containers.
• Work long, or heavy or bulky should be used to maintain
equipment.
The Principle of motion improvement
• Active parts to make it all activities, energy
savings can save unnecessary work also try to
remove, but the action is still there to improve
the way.
– Action can be regulated.
– Hands can reverse movement, but not with the
same movement.
– Use inertia, gravity, natural forces, etc., especially
to make full use of power plant
Principles of motion economy
The principles of motion economy form a set of rules and
suggestions to improve the manual work in manufacturing
and reduce fatigue and unnecessary movements by the
worker, which can lead to the reduction in the work
related trauma. The principles of motion economy can be
classified into three groups:

1. Principles related to the use of human body,

2. Principles related to the arrangement of the work place,
3. Principles related to the design of tools and equipment
Ergonomics principles
Ergonomics principles
Motion analysis procedure
1. Select the operation to be studied.
2. List & chart various motions performance the
operator.
3. Identify the Productive & Idle motions.
4. Eliminate the unnecessary & nonproductive
motions.
5. Redesign the existing operating procedure by
employing minimum number of motions in the
most appropriate sequence & in accordance
with the principles of motion economy.
