Smart Earthquake Detection: Dela Cruz, Angelo Brian Junio, Ruby Anne Regala, Rico

The document proposes the development of a smart earthquake detection system that can provide early warning of incoming earthquakes through several methods. It aims to mitigate public fear by providing an affordable alarm system that alerts people moments before an earthquake occurs. Existing earthquake detection infrastructure is discussed, noting the high costs for developing countries. The proposed system would use modern technologies to efficiently detect seismic waves and send alarm signals through sound, SMS, and device connections over a small area. Objectives include low cost, portability, and interoperability.

Smart Earthquake

Detection

Have you ever been in a tragic
experienced? Is it traumatic?
Scared of Something that is
inevitable, but you just don’t know
when?
What do I need? Should I need it?

Today, our government is equipped with enough

resources to alert people of incoming earthquakes. News
spreads fast on social media and TV and Radio Broadcasts
are everywhere.
But is that sufficient? To a large calamity nothing is
enough.
Our Objectives:

Mitigate the fear of not being prepared to such calamity.

By providing an alarm, moments before an earthquake
occur.
The cost of the device must be affordable.
Background

 Now-a-days, with the use of tools such as seismographs and seismic

intensity meters, we can detect seismic waves from different areas.

 Taking into account the powerful earthquake that hit Japan last March
2011, although Japan is equipped with 200 seismographs, 600 seismic
intensity meters and an additional 3,600 seismic meters in local government
and disaster prevention institutes.

 These requires new infrastructures and budgets that developing countries

might not be able to afford.
Background

 The smart earthquake detection unit just like other equipments

provide measurements of seismic waves as they travel. Modern
technologies like the seismographs, seismic intensity meters and
seismic meters achieve this by recording the vibrations of the earth's
surface.
Marketing Requirements

 An Efficient alarm system that can provide alarm to a small area by not
only producing a high pitch sound and send SMS but also prompts every
devices that is connected to a local group.

 Lightweight By design and portable.

 Low Cost.
