What is Social Media?
Social Media are interactive and
computer-mediated technologies,
such as websites and applications,
that enable users to create content,
share content, and or to participate
in social networking. Social Media
includes these examples:
Youtube
Facebook
Twitter
Google +
Social Media in the Classroom
Within the classroom, there has been an integration of social media networking tools.
Social media is used as a virtual communication tool to connect, discuss, and
collaborate amongst students, peers, and educators. Students can learn information
given to them by the teacher, they then state their thoughts and opinions, and
respond to their fellow users on these platforms. Below are some examples of social
media platforms, created for educational purposes, that are actively used in school
classrooms today.
