DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT WORK

• We simulated the various systems in our project.

• The Converters are designed for meeting our systems needs.
• The systems are built and prototype are designed.
• The system prototyped and tested under various load
conditions.

SIMULATION RESULTS –
Voltage Drop (Matlab)

SIMULATION RESULTS
 Wire losses in the DC distribution is negligible.
 Converters can deliver High Efficiency at light loads.

10/15/2018 DEPARTMENT OF EEE 9

EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS
• Over load caused the converters to burn.
• The newly designed converter boards were able to handle our
loads.
• The DC loads were integrated using the same devices used for
the AC supply.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
 The Voltage drop in our prototype is less than 1%
 The system complexity becomes very low
 DC device meets the specifications of AC loads and hence the
system can integrate directly with the AC system without
notable changes.
 Converters operate at full efficiency and also have built in
protection to overloads hence eliminating the need for fuse.

Efficiency 89% >89%

Losses Unit loss = 11% unit loss <11%

Cost of end Equipment High Low

Size of the Converter compact bulk

Size of the End Equipment Bigger Smaller

Limitations of the Project

• The major limitations are

• Initial Installation cost
• Initial audit of loads is required
• Future expansion of loads need system changes.
• Frequent overloads can reduce the efficiency of the system.

SCOPE FOR FUTURE WORK
• This system can be implemented in any household.
• The future demands of the power and need for renewable
sources of power can be meet.
• Project can be developed into a new standard for the Hybrid
Power System network in distribution and consumer end

DEPARTMENT OF EEE
OUTCOME
• The project results to be efficient and will be implemented in
future.

10/15/2018
• The efficiency of the overall system is increased.
• The system will integrate directly with AC loads without any

CONCLUSIONS
• This project is tested to be efficient and can be implemented.
• The efficiency of the system can be further improved with
help new semiconductor technologies.
