DEVICES
• A device is a machine designed for a
specific purpose.

• Example – A computer can be


considered as a device and computer
uses some other devices for the
functioning like disk drives, printer,
mouse, monitor, keyboard etc.
INPUT DEVICES
• An input device is any
peripheral (which can be
separate) used to provide data
to a information processing
system like computer.
Various examples of
input devices are:-
• Pointing devices – Mouse,
Touch screen, light pen
• Composite devices –
Joystick, Wii Remote
Various examples of
input devices are:-
• Imaging and Video input
devices – Webcam, Bar
code reader
• Audio Input devices –
Microphone
• Keyboard
Pointing Devices
• It is used to input spatial data in to a
system.
• The position of the pointing device is
controlled through movement of
cursor on the screen.
