Arthritis Notes For BSC Nursing Student

Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints that can be caused by several factors such as an inflamed membrane or ligament in the joint, chemical crystals in the joint fluid, or a breakdown of cartilage. The main types of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis, polyarthritis, infective arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout arthritis. The primary clinical manifestations of arthritis are joint pain, swelling, and erythema (redness). Diagnosis involves collecting a medical history, conducting a physical exam, and tests such as blood tests, MRI, CT scans, x-rays, ultrasound and analysis of fluid samples. Treatment includes medications like amitriptyline, diclofenac, and diflunisal to reduce inflammation and pain
