Laying The Foundationof Social Science

Social scientists conduct fieldwork to identify and characterize social facts by directly observing people interacting within social contexts using their senses. They seek to reveal the underlying structures and institutions that shape people's lives, such as religion, economy, kinship, laws, and language, which correspond to academic disciplines. Certain methodological approaches are used to capture the elusive, subjective, and often covert nature of social phenomena through first-hand observation.
