Project Seminar On Modeling of Armature Controlled D.C Motor Using MATLAB
This document discusses modeling an armature-controlled DC motor using MATLAB. It first provides an overview of how DC motors work by using electricity and magnetism to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. It then explains that DC motors operate based on electromagnetism, where a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field experiences a force proportional to the current and field strength. Finally, it details the armature control method, where the speed is controlled by varying the voltage applied to the armature circuit while keeping the field voltage constant. This changes the no-load speed while maintaining the torque-speed curve slope.

Using MATLAB What is DC Motor
A direct current (DC) motor
is a fairly simple electric motor that uses electricity and a magnetic field to produce torque, which turns the motor. A dc motor is used to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy for driving loads. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION The operation of a dc motor is based on electromagnetism.
A current -carrying conductor generates a magnetic
field; when this is then placed in an external magnetic field, it will experience a force proportional to the current in the conductor, and to the strength of the external magnetic field. METHODS OF SPEED CONTROL OF DC MOTOR
N=K V-IaRa\ r.p.s Flux\ Pole
Flux control method.
Rheostatic Control method. Voltage control method. Armature controlled method In the armature voltage control method, the voltage applied to the armature circuit, Va is varied without changing the voltage applied to the field circuit of the motor. Therefore, the motor must be separately excited to use armature voltage control.
When the armature voltage is increased, the no-load
speed of the motor increases while the slope of the torque-speed curve remains unchanged since the flux is kept constant [10].
