Strategic Intervention Material: Its Contribution To The Learners Academic Performance in Science

This document outlines a study that will examine the impact of strategic intervention materials on the academic performance of 5th grade science students. It will compare students' test scores before and after being taught with the materials to see if there is a significant difference in performance. The study will use a pre-test/post-test design with a control group and will analyze the results using statistical tools like t-tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention materials.

STRATEGIC INTERVENTION

MATERIAL: ITS CONTRIBUTION

TO THE LEARNERS ACADEMIC
PERFORMANCE IN SCIENCE

Researcher:

NOLIFE M. LUCEÑO
Teacher III
Research Questions

Specifically, it answers the following questions:

1. What is the level of academic performance of the Grade Five learners

before the strategic intervention material?

2. What is the level of academic performance of the Grade Five learners after
the strategic intervention material?

3. Is there a significant difference in the level of academic performance of the

Grade Five learners before and after the strategic intervention material?
Methodology

This study will use the t-test.

This will determine the differences in
the level of academic performance of
the grade five learners before and
after the strategic intervention
materials in science.
Sampling

The participants of this

study will be the grade five
learners coming from two
sections of Tomas Cabili Central
School, West I District, Division
of Iligan City during the S.Y.
2019-2020.
Research Instrument
The following are the research instruments used
in the study:

1. Strategic Intervention Materials

This intervention material which is designed to help
teacher provides the learners a needed support to
make progress. They tried to increase and deepen
their skills, knowledge and understanding from
concrete science to what is more abstract.
Research Instrument
The following are the research instruments used
in the study:

2. PRE-TEST/ POST-TEST
It is a 50-items teacher-made test which is
designed to measure the mastery level of the
learners on the lesson chosen by the researcher.
Research Instrument
Likewise, a pre-test will be given to both
groups before the introduction of the lesson and a
post-test after the end of the lesson. Both
protests and post-tests are given to the
experimental and control group are the same.
Ethical Issues
This study will follow the prescribed
conduct of research. The name of the learners
will not be mentioned. The respondents of the
study will be given a written permission from the
school principal and the parents of the learners.
Confidentiality and anonymity will be observed
throughout the conduct of the study.
Data Analysis
This study will use the following statistical tools in
analyzing data: frequency count, percentage, and
mean value to determine the level of academic
performance of the learners in the pre-test and
post-test; and t-test to determine if there is a
significant difference in the level of academic
performance of the Grade Five learners before
and after the strategic intervention material.
