Hyperloop is a proposed mode of transportation involving floating pods traveling in low-pressure tubes at high speeds of over 600 mph. It was proposed by Elon Musk as an alternative to high-speed rail for long-distance travel. The system uses linear electric motors to accelerate pods through tubes, with solar panels powering the system. Pods are levitated and propelled through the tubes, which aim to transport passengers faster than airplanes while being safer, cheaper, and more sustainable than existing high-speed rail.

What is HYPERLOOP?
 Hyperloop is a new mode of transportation.
 A high speed train that promises travel at twice the
speed of commercial aircraft, transporting passengers
from Mumbai to Pune in just 25 minutes.
 Support 150 Million Passenger trip annually, saving
more than 90 million hours of Travel Time.
CONCEPT OF HYPERLOOP
 Elon Musk proposed the Hyperloop as an alternative
to the costly California “high speed” rail.
 A Hyperloop would be ‘an elevated, reduced-pressure
tube that contains pressurized capsules driven within
the tube by a number of linear electric motors.
 The system can achieve an average speed of 598 mph
(962 km/h), and a top speed of 760 mph (1,220 km/h).
 Hyperloop will serve as a form of green transportation
as the energy requirements will be met through Solar
energy which will make it energy efficient.
 Hyperloop consists of a low pressure tube with
capsules that are transported at both low and high
speeds throughout the length of the tube.
Components of HYPERLOOP
There are three main components in Hyperloop.
 CAPSULE
 TUBE
 PROPULSION
CAPSULE
 The maximum width of the capsule is 4.43 ft (1.35 m) and
maximum height is 6.11 ft (1.10 m). With rounded corners,
this is equivalent to a 15 ft² (1.14m²) frontal area, not
including any propulsion or suspension components.
 One important feature of the capsule is onboard compressor,
which serves two purposes . This system allows capsule to
traverse the relatively narrow tube without choking flow that
travels between the capsule and tube walls.
 By compressing air that is bypassed through the capsule. It
also supplies air to air bearings that support the weight of the
capsule throughout the journey.
TUBE
 The tube is made of steel.
 Solar arrays will cover the top of the tubes in order to
provide power to the system.
 The tube cross-sectional area is 42.2 ft² (3.91 m2)
giving a capsule/tube area ratio of 36% or a diameter
ratio of 60%.
PROPULSIONS
 Linear accelerators are constructed along the length of
the tube at various locations to accelerate the capsules.
 Stators are located on the capsules to transfer
momentum to the capsules via the linear accelerators.
 Capsules are accelerated by linear magnetic induction
and decelerated by regenerative braking similar to
magnetic levitation trains.
 The Hyperloop uses a linear induction motor to
accelerate and decelerate the capsule. This provides
several important benefits over a permanent magnet
motor
BENEFITS
 Safer
 Fast (air)
 Lower cost at this kind of speed
 More convenient
 Immune to weather
 Sustainable (uses solar power)
 Resistant to earthquakes
 Decrease the traffic
