ATELIER ARTS STUDIO

A BUSINESS BLUEPRINT FOR THE CREATION OF A

PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE CREATIVE SPACE
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• The Philippine Arts existed a very long time ago and still going strong
until today but needs to be innovated to further grow.
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
• The purpose of this study is to create a business blueprint that aims to
combine several art fields in a company that will provide services
and products of these fields as one operating body.

EDUCATE ~ CREATE ~ INSPIRE.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
• The study only includes the creative aspect of the business which
involves the artists and their workflow, space, and equipment as well as
how each member of the conceptualized company plays a part in
creating art for their products or services
• The study will not, however, delve deep into the technical aspect of
the business and will not deeply discuss its creation from a legal
standpoint and the feasibility of it from a financial standpoint.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
• The research objectives will guide the study in establishing the legal
process of creating a business in the country as well as the operational
aspects of the business itself.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
The study aims to achieve the following necessary objectives:

1. To identify the different existing businesses in the multimedia arts industry

that may be similar to Atelier Arts Studios as conceptualized by the
researchers;
2. To enumerate and elaborate on the different potential problems present in
these existing businesses
3. To create a solution to these problems using the collaboration of students
engaged in the related fields as researchers and their collective knowledge on
the various factors related to business and art;
4. For the researchers to discover the legal processes involved in creating a
business as well as the differences in the policies established by different local
government units;
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
The study aims to achieve the following necessary objectives:

5. To properly analyze the needs of the market for the different art fields
related to the study and come up with services and products that will cater to
those needs.
6. For the researchers to immerse in their respective art fields in order for
them to gather real-world, practical, and professional practices and
information that will serve as pointers in developing their business blueprint;
7. To develop a foundation for proper work ethics in the researchers through
interacting with their fellow artists as well as industry professionals who serve
as role models for them in the future once they enter the work force; and
8. To inspire and guide young artist entrepreneurs on how start their own art-
related business through proper techniques and principles from the industry in
developing a business.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This business plan is favorable and beneficial to the following groups of
people:

• Amateur artists, especially graduates who are planning to start a

business career
• Art students and non-artist students
• Companies, both local and non-local
FRAMEWORKS
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
The framework of operation for this study always involves a certain
input, process, and output which will be executed by the business owners.
In light of this, the study uses the Input-Process-Output Model or the
I.P.O Model to show how the business blueprint will operate.
FRAMEWORKS
This framework functions well for the business blueprint this study aims to
develop as it displays a process that creates room for constant improvement
which is in line with the type of space the study is aiming to create.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
• The stimulus-organism-response theory, as applied to the business
concept, would state that customers respond to the physical environment
which acts as the stimulus to initiate a response from them.
• This framework works with the conceptual framework of the study as
the response the business operating process will be receiving is a direct
response to the most important aspect of the business which is the
physical environment which in this case is the space the business aims to
create.
FRAMEWORKS
By combining the I.P.O Model with the Stimulus-organism-response
Theory, the framework for the business blueprint looks like this:

TRIANGULATION
• In this study, triangulation is applied by obtaining multiple participants,
using multiple methods, and utilizing various instruments in order to
ensure that the interpretations formed from the data and insights are
analyzable through various angles which in turn will produce the best
conclusion possible and will guide the construction of the business
blueprint for Atelier Arts Studio.
RESEARCH LOCALE
• The researchers had to choose a company wherein its members are
close and serve as each others’ support systems. For observation and
data gathering, the researchers studied HMT Studios.
SAMPLING
• The data gathered by the researchers—which were then used in
constructing the business blueprint—came from the 11 participants
who were chosen with the use of the purposive sampling technique
specifically using expert sampling. The purposive sampling technique is
a non-probability sampling technique that focuses on obtaining
participants that have certain characteristics that are of interest or may
aid in the creation of the study’s desired outcome
RESEARCH METHODS
OBSERVATION
• With the use of non-systematic observation, the researchers took note
of the workflow process, rules and regulations, space construction,
nature, and behavior of the members of HMT Studios.
• The researchers also utilized the participant observation method
wherein they immersed themselves in the experiences of the members
of the company
RESEARCH METHODS
DAILY LOG/JOURNAL WRITING
• The researchers as participants used journaling to jot down important
events, happenings, and information gathered, as well as observations
from the participants in HMT Studios which the researchers analyzed in
order to help form and innovate a new type of business idea.
RESEARCH METHODS
INTERVIEW
• The interview with the general manager of HMT Studios was conducted
in order to generate insight as to how an art company with a similar
nature to HMT Studios can be constructed from start to an operational
beginning.
RESEARCH METHODS
CONCEPTUALIZING A BUSINESS IDEA
• With the information gathered from the interview, observation sessions,
and their individual inquiries and investigations, the researchers were
able to come up with a business idea based on the information they
have collected.

Philosophy and Words
PHILOSOPHY
“Great art may be created but how it's created must be shared to
everyone”
ATELIER WORDS
“Together, we can create greatness”
A guiding philosophy shapes the vision and mission of the studio-business
and without it, the studio would have no direction. Part of holding on to
this guiding philosophy is applying it in doing business.

The Development Plan
Phase 1: Establishing the Studio
• Before the studio can start to operate, enough funds must first be
collected by the business owners in order to ensure that the extra
expenses they will have in addition to their daily living needs can
be covered.
• Another fundamental part of establishing the studio is
accomplishing the legal requirements of starting a new business
the local government unit has imposed and the process of which was
described in the theme Legitimacy of the Business.

The Development Plan
Phase 2: Online Art Business
• Due to the limited capital and desire to invest just the bare minimum
in establishing the studio, the business owners have decided to
operate entirely online
• After all the legal requirements are accomplished and the studio-
business fully established, the business owners will proceed to
working on projects with small, online, home based set-ups having
each of them utilize their own home studio as a working space.

The Development Plan
Phase 3: The Actual Studio
• Through this, the studio’s production process will then be relocated to
a single work site combining all of the member's assets into one
therefore making communication, exchange of files, and work
schedule more efficient therefore improving their rate of
productivity and making it easier for the artists to integrate each
others’ skills into their work and improve the overall quality of the
studio’s outputs.

The Development Plan
Rental Phase: To initiate this phase:
• The studio having at least one extra piece of each equipment so as
not to interfere with the production process wherein these equipment
are needed
• The studio would have enough savings to replace at least two
pieces of the two, most expensive pieces of equipment they
currently have for rental (this is separate from their savings for
replacing equipment the studio uses in production)
• The studio have set up a system for rental to ensure customer
liability should any piece of equipment be lost or damaged
• And the studio having a safe, secure, and big enough storage space
to house all the equipment and allows for its organization according
to the equipment type.

Business Expansion
• The studio is able to expand by either hiring additional
artists or changing studio space to increase its capacity.
• The primary form of expansion the studio chooses to focus
on is the literal expansion or improvement of its space as
that is the driving force of the business and is what the
studio’s vision and mission needs to fulfill its goals.
