THE BALANCED SCORECARD
• Balanced Scorecard will give a holistic business view to the top management.

• It will provide answer to four basic questions:

– FINANCIAL PERSPECTIVE – Aim at emphasizing on self sustaining


PG programs, Executive education & generating surpluses (How do we look
to shareholders/stakeholders?)

– CUSTOMER PERSPECTIVE – Aim at immediate needs & desires of


students, parents, alumni & corporate sector (How do customers see us?)

– INTERNAL PROCESS PERSPECTIVE – Focuses on implementation


& delivery of academic, research & other programs by the business school &
the degree of excellence achieved in same (What must we excel at?)

– INNOVATION & LEARNING PERSPECTIVE – Looks at development


of faculty & staff as a precursor and foundation to excellence in program
design & delivery (Can we continue to improve and create value?)

THE BALANCED SCORECARD TABLE
Each perspective of the Balanced Scorecard includes Objectives, measures of
those objectives, target values to those measures and initiatives, defined as
below:
•Objectives – Major objectives to be achieved
•Measures – Observable parameters that will be used to measure progress
towards reaching the objectives
•Targets – Specific targets values for the measures
•Initiatives – Action programs to be initiated in order to meet the
objectives
