INTRODUCTION
• Operating System is an integrated set of program
that controls the resources of a computer system
and provides its user with an interface or virtual
machine that is easier to use than the bare
machine.
• OS is a software, which makes a computer to
actually work.
• It is the software that enables all the programs we
use.
• OS acts as an interface between the application
programs and the machine hardware.
STRUCTURE OF OPERATING
SYSTEM
The two primary objectives of an OS are :
1.Make a computer system easier to use : An OS hides details of
hardware resources from programmers and other users and
provide them with a convenient interface for using a computer
system .
2.Manage the resources of a computer system: An 0S manages all
the resources of a computer system. Efficient and fair sharing of
system resources among users and \or programs is a key goal of all
operating systems.
FUNCTIONS OF OPERATING SYSTEM
FEATURES OF
OPERATING Operational at all times.
SYSTEMS
Should coordinate and have good
control of input and output operations
and the devices on which they are
performed.
EXAMPLES OF
COMPUTING
DEVICES WHICH
USE OS
• Computers
• Mobile Phones
• 3D television
• Video Games
• ATM
ADVANTAGES OF OPERATING SYSTEM
EASY TO USE USER FRIENDLY INTERMEDIATE BETWEEN NO NEED TO KNOW ANY IT’S THE PLATFORM OF ALL
ALL HARDWARE AND TECHNICAL LANGUAGES PROGRAMS
SOFTWARE OF THE SYSTEM
DISADVANTAGES OF
OPERATING SYSTEM
• If any problems affected in OS, you may lose all the contents
which have been stored already
• Unwanted user can use your own system
