Granular Pile Anchor

This document summarizes an experiment to determine the pullout capacity of granular pile anchors. It describes the construction of the anchors, which consist of a steel rod, base plate, and compacted granular backfill material. Tests were conducted to characterize the soil properties and determine the failure behavior. Uplift tests were performed on anchors with varying length-to-diameter ratios, and the maximum pullout capacity increased with higher ratios. The failure mechanisms involved friction mobilization along the anchor and bulging of the soil around the base plate.
