WHAT IS SMART CITY????

The concept of Smart City is a very stable place for a dweller. It is expected to be a
place which meets all the basic needs what a dweller aspires.
A Smart City would have different connotations. As a result there is no one way of
defining a Smart City.
WHY A SMART CITY ????
Aiming to aspire every need of the city dweller and ideally aiming to develop the entire
ecosystem, economically, physically, socially and instituionally.
The objective to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and give a descent
quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment.
BENEFITS OF SMART CITIES
 Smart city help people to live, work and play while requiring fewer resourses.
 Creates most benefits for the people while minimizing impacts
 Connects the people
 All type of facilities are available to the people
CORE INFRASTRUCTURE
 The Core Infrastructure elements a Smat City must include are as follows:
Adequate water supply.
Assured electric supply.
Sanitation and solid waste management.
Efficient urban Mobility and Public Transport.
Affordable Housing, especially for the poor.
Robust IT Connectivity and Digitization.
Good Governance and citizen participation.
Safety and security of citizens, particularly women children and elderly people.
Health and Education.
ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY
Proper Treatment of Drinking water
Detoxification
ASSURED ELECTRIC SUPPLY
24 hr Electricity supply.
Developing Electricity through various modes,such as
i. Solar plants
ii. Dams
iii. Windmill
iv. Thermal Power plants etc.
Maintainence of these Electricity generators.
SANITATION AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
Use of Washrooms for clean and hygienic sanitation.
Proper Disposal of wet and dry waste
Management of Biodegradable waste and e-waste/Non biodegradable waste.

 The smart city mission requires smart people who actively participate in
governance and reforms.
 The multiple permits required by various levels of government are slowing down
the process of creating the city.

Smart cities are already in development and they will quick expand.
A smarter future is on the way and there will be more advantages then disadvantages
in smart cities for the whole society.
