Sea Border Geofencing for
Fishermen
Abstract
•Geofencing has found many applications and various technologies have been
develop for implementing it.
•One important application of Geofencing is to create border alert system for fisher
man, here we use GPS based Geofencing to alert fishermen and given them voice
alerts in different languages so that they can save themselves from getting caught by
foreign country coast guards and charged under the Foreigners Act for trespass.
•Multilevel alert can be given at various levels of closes to actual border.
INTRODUCTION
•The Tamil Nadu fishermen even today invoke the historical rights and
routinely stay into the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) for
fishing.
•From Tamil Nadu about 18,000 boats of different kinds conduct fishing along
the India-Sri Lanka maritime border.
•But by accidentally crossing the border without knowledge, they get shot by
the Lankan navy.
•This leads to loss in the both humans as well as their economic incomes. We
have developed a system which eliminates such problems and saves the
lives of the fishermen

PROBLEM STATEMENT
The application can be widely used by people in the border to find the appropriate path to reach the
destination. The application will notify the information of where the devices are being located and
intimate them about the issues that occur due to opponent forces in ships to server. This can act as an
incident management application to avoid conflicts at varying situations.
From the available GIS processing tools in Android we can realize all three types of LBS services as a
mobile can be configured as a server and for that we can also use the SQLite database to store information
as android also supports this technology. We can configure the two mobiles to provide peer-peer LBS
services through SMS or MMS with the use of appropriate intents.

EXPECTED RESULT
• Advantages
1. Accuracy determination of location
2. Maintenance cost is low
3. Easily replaceable with traditional method of verification.
•Benefits
1. The hijack of the ship by the pirates can be eradicated.
2. The lost ship wrecks due to natural calamities can be identified
3. By keeping the kits in the entire boats and by knowing the locations of all the boats
•Future Scope
We can use the EEPROM to store the previous Navigating Positions up to 256 locations. We can navigate up ton number of locations by
increasing the memory of EEPROM.
We can reduce the size of the kit by using GPS+GSM on the same module of GPS navigator.
We can increase the accuracy up to 3m by increasing the cost of the GPS receivers.
