Why to undertake research internships?
Undergraduate research contributes to the development of the students on three fronts,
namely personal , professional and educational . Also, in the processing of offering what is in
the best interest of the student, the research mentors themselves (be it faculty members,
post-doctoral fellows, or doctoral/masters scholars) often undergo experiences that offer
invaluable gains.
Engineering and science education entails growing the mind in formal directions without
curbing innovation and curiosity. The process of learning is significantly enhanced if the above
is achieved with the willing participation by the student. Education also includes the important
elements of undertaking hands-on experiences and solving open-ended challenges.
Undergraduate research is a process of building these components of education in a personal
way for each student .
Further, many exciting things often emerge from very laborious processes. Sometimes,
research leads to more questions than what one has started with. Through undergraduate
research, students learn to address open-ended problems and thereby to handle uncertainty.
Undergraduate students, therefore, sink roots into the culture of research.
But, the crucial aspect of student development is self-discovery. Students need to know what
they are good at and made for - teaching, research, enterprise, business administration, or
others. Undergraduate research offers the opportunity to explore oneself - one's own interests
and strengths. Sometimes, this discovery can do wonders for an individual. For instance, a
student with poor grades may produce exceptional quality research; academic achievement
does not necessarily predict research ability.
Shooting an Email

• Write an impactful body paragraph showing your interest in

his work and show your potential.
• Things to attach in an Email.
• Latest Curriculum Vitae
• Possible Project Idea : Giving an Innovative Idea on which you can work or
want to work with your supervisor
• Content
• How you will approach the idea methods and all
• How your idea if implemented will be beneficial.
At the end of 4 years

• There will be no time for confusion and dilemmas about

future. Now is the time, stretch your mind and limits.
• At that time you should be able to stand and say that “I have
done this and I am best at it”.
• Try & try again, never lose hope.
Don’t think just do.
Thank you!
