Biometric Voting Machine: Presented By:-Kalpit Vaya BRANCH:-E.C.E

This document presents a biometric voting machine that uses thumb impressions for voter identification and authentication. It describes how the machine works, including how thumb impressions are scanned, stored in a database, and used to verify voters' identities. The machine aims to make elections more secure and prevent issues like rigging by ensuring only registered voters can cast votes. Key advantages are that it reduces the potential for invalid votes and speeds up the voting process.

BIOMETRIC VOTING

MACHINE
PRESENTED BY :- KALPIT VAYA
BRANCH:-E.C.E.

INTRODUCTION :

• The word biometric came from the term of biological behavior. Some
behaviors of the biometric voting system are finger printer, Hand & facial
geometric, voice recognition and had writing recognition. In the biometric
voting system employed the electrons and it would be fair and free from
ringing.
• In this system we have used thumb impression for voter identification or
authentication. Every person has an individual unique thumb impression
and it helps with accuracy. In a constituency the thumb impression of the
database is created for all the voters through this the illegal and repetition
of votes is checked. Thus, in this system the electrons are employed and
there is a free & fair from ringing.

Electronic Voting Machine :
 The e-voting is known as electronic voting. It is a voting and by using the electronic
resources to help and taken care of the tasks and counting votes. The ranges of internet
services are included in e-voting and it depends on the situation.
 The amount of automation may vary from simple task to a solution that can have voter
registration, votes input, local, vote date services, tabulation and administration of
elections. Admirable e-voting system should be done most no of tasks and full fill the
set of standard establishments through regular bodies.
 The electronic voting machine contains punched cards, optical scan voting systems and
particular voting kiosks. It can engage ballots transmission and votes via telephone and
the internet.
 I- voters where the voter can vote at home and also without going to the polling
station.
 The electronic voting machine can count the ballots very fast and it can reduce the
human paying staff for counting votes. It can provide better convenience for unknown
votes. Hence there is a disputation, particularly in the United States. Many of the
countries are not using e-voting system.

Finger Print Scanner

• The fingerprint scanner consists of fingerprint sensor, A/D

converter, flash ROM and DSP chip.

DESIGN
The design of the system consists of the following important
parameters -

1. Scanning- using DSP Processor

2. Searching- based on the principle of GOOGLE SEARCH
3. Networking- all the election booths are connected in a
network
4. Data transfer using telephone lines.

5 7/10/2019
FINGER PRINT SENSOR :
 The fingerprint sensor is used for scanning the thumb impression.
The scanning data is in the from analog. Further, this process is
converted by the A/D converter.

 A/D CONVERTER :
 In the A/D converter it converts analog data to the
digital data sensor and it is transformed to the processor.

 FLASH ROM :
• The flash ROM is used to store the data temporarily in DSP
process and this will work until the data transform to the main
6 memory of the HOST. 7/10/2019
FINGER PRINT SCANNER:

 DSP Chip
 The DSP chip is used for processing and receiving the data.
For further transfer of data the DSP port is used.

 DSP Port
 It is used for the communication between DSP processor and
memory (data base).

7 7/10/2019
FINGER PRINT SCANNER:

 The extension of thumb impression from the memory is the next

process. In the form of pixels the fingerprints are stored in the
future. The pixels are sent to the pattern matching then the
fingerprint is compared with the database records. If the
fingerprint pattern is matched with the records, then the vote
accepted. If the fingerprint is not matched with the records, then
the vote is rejected.

Biometric Voting Machine :

 The purpose of voting is to vote to communicate their choice

about specific issues, to choose their government or political
representatives and piece of legislation. To call their votes
more and more technologies are assisted. Around the world
the voting system is in following steps :-
 Authentication and voter identification.
 Voting and recording of votes cast.
 Vote counting.
 Publication of election result.

 PROCESSING AND COUNTING:

After the person gets the PROCEED symbol from the voting
machine, there appears a screen on which all the parties names
along with the symbols are present. The person should select any
one of the party by giving the number allotted to that particular
party as input through the keypad. After the option is selected the
voter is prompted for a confirmation. In case the voter enters an
invalid number, the screen reappears and he\she is prompted to
cast the vote again. Then according to the option selected, the vote
count of the particular party gets incremented by one. Finally, at
the end of the day, the position of the parties in terms of the total
votes cast can be known

Block Diagram of Biometric Voting Machine :

• The following block diagram shows the Biometric voting machine

with the help of Arduino. The hardware requirements of this
voting machine are Power supply, fingerprint module, LCD
display, and Arduino. This project is designed by a prototype of a
product, biometric voting machine, it allows voters and this
product can make easy for registered voters. By using the SDK
software the fingerprint can be enrolled.

Biometric Voter Register System:

• To register voters the biometric voter register system is used. It

requires a laptop, fingerprint scanner, and with a camera. The
biometric voter register will capture the facial image of voters,
finger prints, and civil data, identity card, passport number, and
telephone numbers etc. The registration is done at the registration
centers and the individual person should be voted. This system was
developed by the IEBC to register the voters and it is started
before the 2013 general elections.
 The data of BVR machines transfer to a centralized storage server
with the help of the copy registers are printed. To check and verify
the registration details of a person the thumbnail of the voters is
used.

12 7/10/2019
Advantages:

 Providing the preventive measures system for voting.

 It cannot provide any chance to invalid votes.
 It reduces the timing of polling.
 At the counting centers, it can provide easy and accurate
counting without any troubles.

13 7/10/2019
 CONCLUSION:
Thus the advent of this biometric thumb impression
voting system would enable hosting of fair elections in
India. This will preclude the illegal practices like rigging.
The citizens can be sure that they alone can choose their
leaders, thus exercising their right in the democracy.
