• Technology exposes students to a vast storehouse of
literary texts all over the world.
• It provides access to volumes of analyses showing
different perspectives in interpreting literature.
• It gives students ample opportunity for responding to
literature.
• Technology opens doors for students to create
literature, share it and get published.
Ways to Cater to the Needs of 21st
Century Students
 Create more authentic learning experiences. Students
need more real-world problem solving, internships in
real work settings.
 Allow mental model building, students should be put
into situations that incorporate new experiences that
change their views over time.
 Create lessons that have an emotional connection to
what is being learned.
 Create more personalized learning opportunities for
students. Differentiate!
 Embed social learning into lessons. Online
communication is an option.
PowerPoint. The use of PowerPoint slides, not only for
presentation but also for more active learning in the
classroom, has been around for almost a decade. It
has been considered as a highly visual presentation
tool that allows the teacher and the students to
discuss abstract concepts while accommodating
different learning styles.

Blogs (shortened from the term web log) is a Web publishing tool
that allows authors to quickly and easily self-publish text, art work,
links to other blogs or Web sites, and a whole array of content

It can use any layout and can cover many
different topics, but they all have basic
characteristics in common (NCTE/IRA, 2008).

 Blog entries are posted in reverse-chronological


order. The order is similar to a backwards diary,
running from the most recent at the top of a page
to the least recent at the bottom.
 Blog entries usually include the date and specific
time that they were posted (a timestamp).
It can use any layout and can cover many
different topics, but they all have basic
characteristics in common (NCTE/IRA, 2008).

 The blogger’s name is usually listed with the


timestamp. By default, blogs usually end “Posted by
[blogger’s name].”
 Older blog entries are usually found in an archive.
Often the archive is sorted by months and years.
The archive links are usually in a sidebar on the
page.
 Readers and the blogger can usually comment on
(or reply to) a blog entry. The comments can turn
into a dialogue, with the readers and blogger
talking together.
