How To Change Oil

To change the oil in a car, follow these steps: check the owner's manual to determine the proper oil type and amount needed; drain the used oil from the pan and dispose of it properly; replace the oil filter and fill it partially with new oil before securing it; add the recommended amount of new oil; start the engine to circulate the new oil and check the dipstick to top off the level if needed.

HOW TO CHANGE OIL

1st Step

Check the weight of oil that is recommended for the car, and how much the oil the car
needs. You will also need to know what oil filter to buy. All this information can be found
in the owners manual.
2nd Step
Remove the oil pan drain plug
and dispose of the used oil
properly. Many people pour the
oil down the drain or in the grass,
this is not only bad for the
environment, but pointless as
Autozone or any other parts store
will dispose of the oil for free.
3rd Step
Remove the oil filter from its
housing and replace it with the
new oil filter. Before the oil filter
is placed back in to the vehicle
fill it half way with oil and
lubricate the surface that will be
in contact with the engine block.
Then screw the oil drain plug
back into the pan so nothing will
spill out.
4TH STEP
Remove the oil drain cap
and add the proper amount
of oil to the engine.
5th Step
Turn on the car and run the
vehicle, this will allow the new oil
to spread within the engine. After
the quick break in period check
the dip stick to see if the level
had dropped. When new oil
placed into an engine some of
the volume in the reservoir will
be lost. The oil that is lost has
coated the internal parts of the
