The document proposes adding RFID technology to ICICI bank cards to allow for contactless payments on metro systems in major Indian cities. This would save customers time by allowing them to bypass lines and recharging stations. The plan is to first launch a trial in Delhi and Mumbai, then expand to other metro services. RFID would allow funds to be deducted directly from linked accounts without needing cash, tokens, or cards to be recharged. The proposal aims to improve convenience for ICICI customers who make up a large portion of daily metro riders.

The Idea
Adding RFID on our ICICI cards to provide an ease to our customers for faster transactions in metro cities

Save the consumer’s time Convenient solution

RFID is an acronym for “radio-frequency identification” and refers to a technology whereby digital data encoded in RFID tags or
smart labels (defined below) are captured by a reader via radio waves. The use of wireless communications to establish the
identity of a physical object will help in faster transactions without the use of any PIN or OTP. The card can be used directly for
purchasing tickets of metros and other transportation.
How will this work?

 Customer reaches the Delhi metro platform

 He can easily move past the line
 Instead of waiting for the token or smart card recharge he can
straight away use his ICICI debit/ credit card to use the metro
service
 There is no need for a periodic recharge as the money is deducted
from his account/ charged on his credit card
