BOOK ORDER SECTION
There are various means of procuring a
document in the library. Some of the
impotent ones include:
1.Purchase:
Purchases form the major means of
acquiring document in a library.
2. Gifts or donation:
Gifts or donation are always welcome in
a library. There are many cases ware
personal collection bequeathed to
libraries have become the main stay of
collections
3. Institutional membership:
institutional membership is another
potential resource in collection building.
The library may enlist itself as a member
of learned societies and institutions who
publish useful materials.
4. Deposit system:
deposit system entitles some specially
designated libraries to receive free copies
of the publication brought out by
governments, national and international
organisations.
5. Exchanges :
exchanges may be another possible means
of acquiring documents. Exchanges are
also possible between to libraries with
spare copies against items needed.

ACCESSIONING PROCEDURE
Accession register is the basic record in
the library about each document forming
part of its collection. The general practice
in the libraries is to have a single register
in which all types of document purchased
or received as gift or on exchange as
deposit are entered. But some libraries
have the practice using separate accession
register, for gift and for deposited items.
