COMPUTER NETWORKING

& PRINTER SHARING


MATERIALS NEEDED:
•ETHERNET/LAN CABLE CABLE
•SWITCH HUB
•COMPUTER SETS
•PRINTER
•LAP TOP (SERVER)
. FIRST, CONNECT YOUR ETHERNET CABLE AT THE BACK OF
YOUR COMPUTER. FIND THE ETHERNET PORT. SEE IF THE
NETWORK LIGHT IS BLINKING OR TURN ON.

2. CONNECT THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR ETHERNET CABLE


TO THE SWITCH HUB. CHECK THE HUB NUMBER
ASSIGNED TO YOUR CABLE IF IT IS BLINKING. IF YES, YOU
ARE CONNECTED TO THE SWITCH AND THERE IS NO
PROBLEM WITH YOUR CABLE.
NOW PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING
OPEN NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER

RIGHT-CLICK ON THE NETWORK


ICON BELOW
CLICK ON THE CHANGE ADAPTER SETTINGS LEFT SIDE CORNER
CLICK ON THE LOCAL AREA CONNECTION
CLICK ON THE INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 (TCP/IP v4)

CLICK PROPERTIES
CLICK THE
RADIO BUTTON
FOR THE USE
THE FOLLOWING
IP ADDRESS
ENTER YOUR IP
ADDRESS:
192.168.1.2
192.168.1.3
192.168.1.4
CLICK ON THE SUBNET
MASK BOX AND IT
WILL AUTOMATICALLY
FILL IN THE SUBNET
MASK.
THEN CLICK CLOSE
3. GO TO MY COMPUTER. RIGHT-CLICK ON IT, GO TO
PROPERTIES. THEN CLICK CHANGE SETTINGS.
TYPE YOUR
NAME+PC FOR
COMPUTER
NAME
TYPE PETMALU-
ASTIG FOR
WORKGROUP
Click OK
3. NOW GO TO OPEN NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER
AGAIN.
Click all the turn
on radio button
except for the
very last for the
“password
protected
sharing”
Then click SAVE
CHANGES
4. On the Search Engine,
type WINDOWS FIREWALL.
TURN OFF WINDOWS FIRE
WALL
CLICK ON TURN OFF
WINDOWS FIRE WALL
THEN CLOSE
5. GO TO DESK TOP. RIGHT-CLICK, CLICK ON NEW FOLDER
6. RENAME THE FOLDER, MAKE IT YOUR NAME.

7. OPEN MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD, IN A NEW


DOCUMENT, TYPE THE FF:

YOUR COMPLETE NAME

COMPUTER NAME
