Assessment
• Your journey to the answer is much more
important than the answer itself
• There is no right answer – don’t waste your
and everyone else’s time trying to find one
• Staff have been briefed to ask ‘why?’
• Use the tools and techniques you have been
taught to give you the evidence you need to
make and support your decisions
Groups
• Engineers work in groups/teams
• Groups of mixed ability, nationality and discipline

• All students will need to explore and develop

different ways of working in order to be
successful

• Groupworking session to follow

Deadlines and dates
….are fixed. Not for negotiation.

• All tasks and hand-ins are the responsibility of

the group
• Valid individual ExCs will be considered as
always, but dates cannot be changed
• All submissions are electronic, via moodle
Our expectations
• This is your project, for you to manage
• Your group is responsible for the timely
production of deliverables
• Follow the rules & guidelines for groupworking
• 40 credits ≈ 15 hours per week, each
• Attend the timetabled support sessions
• Be prepared when asking for help and guidance
– Don’t look for ‘the answer’
Your expectations
• Support by department staff in nominated areas and at
allotted times
• Differences of opinion. Communication from any
member of staff regarding any technical aspect of your
project is only an opinion. There is no ‘right’ answer
• Any changes to the module will be communicated to
you by email from John/Daniel
