THE MEANING OF BIOGRAPHY

A biography is a story or information about a person life.


A biography is more complex than just a curriculum vitae
and employment data of a person, a biography also tells
about the feelings involved in experiencing the event. In
biography is also explained in full the life of a person
from childhood to old age, even to death. All services,
creation, and everything that is produced or done by a
person is also clarified. Biographical text are composed
by other people, not by yourself.

In a large indonesian dictionary, biography is the life


history of someone written by someone else.
FUNCTION OF BIOGRAPHY

 To know a person’s story about his/her life outside of any


accomplishments this person maybe known for.

 To give much information easily and educate the readers.

 To provide details regarding the life of a person or a thing in


an entertaining but informative manner.
STRUCTURE OF BIOGRAPHY

 Orientation (Introduction)
It is the opening paragraph, gives the readers the background
information of the person. Usually contains biodata that is
told such as full name, place and date of birth. Some general
information can also be presented in this section as an
introduction to figures.

 Events
In events, should be in chronological order. This stage is part
of the events or events experienced by the character. Contains
an explanation of a good story in the form of problem solving,
career processes, and various events that have been
experienced by the character to lead to success.
 Re-Orientation (Closing)
It consists of a conclusion or comment or the writer. Tell
about the achievement or the contribution of the person. In
closing, this section contains the views of the author of the
narrated character. This interpretation is optional, which
means the writer can give his personal view of the character
being told or the author does not give his personal view of the
character being told is not an important matter.
THE LINGUISTIC FEATURES

 Using pronouns (pronouns) third person singular he or she or


he. These pronouns are used in various ways by the mention
of a character's name or a character's nickname.

Example: George Saa, a Papuan son, really likes physics. He


came from an economically disadvantaged family. Thanks to
his diligence, The Genius from Papua received a scholarship
to go abroad. Despite his success, Oge, as he was usually
called, remained a friendly and not arrogant person.
 Many use action verbs to describe physical events or actions
carried out by a character.

Example: study, read, walk, throw.

 Many use adjectives to provide detailed information about


character traits.

Example: adjectives to describe characters including genius,


diligent, tenacious. In doing the description, often the use of
adjectives is preceded by copulative.
 Many use passive verbs to describe the events experienced by
the characters as the subject being told.

Example: given, assigned, selected .

 Many use verbs that relate to mental activity in the context of


describing the role of characters.

Example: understanding, agreeing, inspiring, loving .

 Many use conjunctions, prepositions, or nouns relating to the


order of time.

Example: before, already, at, then, then, until, until, on the


date, later, during, at that time.
EXAMPLE

R.A Kartini
Each April 21 peolple in indonesia celebrate the kartini day. It is
delightful day for the lady on the grounds that we praise the
conception of incredible woman R.A . Kartini. Everybody knows who
Kartini is. She is our national champion and an extraordinary
woman with the brilliant thought .
Kartini was conceived in 1879 April 21 in Mayong Jepara. Her dad
was Rama Sosroningrat a Wedana (associate of head of rule) in
Mayong. Her mom, Ma Ngasirah was a young lady from Teluk Awur
town in Jepara as the little girl of a respectable family, she felt
fortunate in light of the fact that she got more than the standard
individuals got. She improved instruction than other youngsters. In
november 12 1903 she wedded adipati djoyodiningrat, the head of
rembang rule. As per Javanese custom Kartini needed to tail her
spouse. At that point she moved to Rembang.
In September 13 1904 she gave a conception to her child. His
name was Singgih. Anyway, subsequent to conceiving a child,
her condition was deteriorating and she at long last passed
away on september 17 1904 on her 25 years of age.
Presently Kartini has gone. Anyway, her soul and dream will
dependably be in our heart. These days Indonesian ladies
advancement is af fected by kartini’s soul expressed on
accumulation of letter “habis gelap terbitlah terang” or from the
nightfall to the first light.
