Smart Parking System: Group Members: Piyush V. Pawar (BE 254) Shivaba R. Mahalle (BE 237) Manthan M. Naik (BE241)

This document describes a proposed smart parking system that uses sensors in parking spaces and an app to help drivers find available spots. The system would solve problems caused by unmanaged street parking filling up in cities. Sensors in each space would detect vehicles and send that data to a central database/cloud. A mobile or web app would then show users the availability of spaces in real-time, and could help guide them to open spots to simplify parking and reduce traffic.

INTRODUCTION

 A Smart vehicle parking is a system that helps

driver to find a vacant spot for parking in each
parking space.

 This is achieved by their mobile phone

application or web application which shows
the presence or absence of vehicle.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

 With increase in population, gradually increases

number of vehicles and due to unmanaged
parking it leads to many problems.

 In metro cities, people faces difficulties due to

increased number of vehicles creates
congestion, wastage of space and time and
traffic problems etc.
OBJECTIVES
 To simplify the parking system as well as the
vehicle security.
 To design a system that parks a number of
vehicles with least possible space.
 To develop a mobile application and web
application which shows a parking space and
also allows the user to pre book the parking
space.
 To add google maps to the application which
shows the parking space at peak timings.

FUNCTIONALITY
 The parking slots are fixed with IR sensors
which detect the vehicle.
 These sensors are interfaced with development
board which is the gateway for parking.
 The information of the parking slots is updated
on the cloud.
 And the information about the parking slot is
used by the user through the application
Advantages
 Accurately predict and sense spot/vehicle
occupancy in real-time.
 Guides residents and visitors to available parking.
 Optimize Parking Space Usage
 Simplifies the parking experience and adds value
for parking for drivers and merchants
 Help traffic in the city flow more freely leveraging
IoT technology.
 Enables intelligent decisions using data, including
real–time status applications and historical analytics
reports
 Plays a major role in creating better urban
environment by reducing the emission of CO2 and
other pollutants
