HISTORY ABOUT WHAT CAME TO BE
• During the textile era which occurred during the 19th century
which made Iloilo earn the title for the “textile center of the
Philippines.”
• Which Iloilo actually long lost that title but still Western
Visayas claims to be the capital of handwoven fabrics in the
country.
HABLON
Origin: Panay Island
• In Hilihaynon, this means
“something woven.”
• This is usually plain with a
plain and stripped design.
• This is also usually worn as a
wraparound skirt when
performing patadayong and
panuelo.
PATADAYONG
• Also, a wraparound skirt worn
by Filipino women in the
lowland regions of Visayas.
• This is similar to the malong
used in Mindanao.
• Usually, this has checked
designs or patterns and
various colors.
PIÑA
Origin: Aklan
• It is made up from the leaves of
a pineapple, sometimes
combines with silk or polyester.
• This is very useful in the
creation of the Barong Tagalog
designs.
• It is also used for bags, mats,
table linens and more.
