ABOUT

• It is a branch of engineering that uses

principles of chemistry, physics,
mathematics, and economics to efficiently
use, produce, transform, and transport
chemicals, materials, and energy. A
chemical engineer designs large-scale
processes that convert chemicals, raw
materials, living cells, microorganisms, and
energy into useful forms and products.
KEY CONCEPTS
• Plant design and construction
• concerns the creation of plans, specification, and
economic analyses for pilot plants, new plants or
plant modifications.
• Process design and analysis
• to prepare reactants, purifying and separating its
products, recycling unspent reactants, and
controlling energy transfer in reactors.
• Transport phenomena
WHAT DOES A
CHEMICAL ENGINEER
DO?
• Chemical engineers develop and
design chemical manufacturing processes.
Chemical engineers apply the principles
of chemistry, biology, physics, and math to
solve problems that involve the production
or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and
many other products.
