Why Are Computers So Important?
• Desktops, laptops and mobile devices network the world together and
perform multiple operations at once; however, this industry includes more
than these machines.
• Colleges and universities offer online courses for adults who are looking to obtain a degree
without quitting their job.
• Younger students rely on computers to research and access information, or to submit their
work to their teacher.
• Professional or volunteer tutors can be found online to gain help on a variety of topics.
• Use the Internet to take a virtual trip to another country by exploring ideas, art, music,
products and other examples of culture.
SMALL BUSINESS
• Many of today’s successful small companies simply could not exist without computer technology.
• Each year, hundreds of thousands of individuals launch businesses based from their homes or in
small-office locations.
• They rely on inexpensive computers and software not only to perform basic work functions, but
to manage and grow their companies.
• These tools enable business owners to handle tasks- such as daily accounting chores, inventory
management, marketing, payroll, and many others- that once required the hiring of outside
specialists.
• For example, free lancers establish their own small businesses working online.
INDUSTRY
• Businesses today have a wide range of uses for computers. This has been a necessity for industry
as a way to utilize their resources more efficiently, as well as a way to reach a larger group of
potential customers.
• Using spreadsheets or databases, most businesses utilize some sort of computer maintained
inventory tracking system.
• From printing or depositing paychecks, to applying raises and bonuses, industries have become
very reliant on computer management.
• Customer databases are used not just to track order information for clients, but also to
chronicle interactions to better serve clients in the future.
• All industries have been migrating towards the Internet over the past two decades, resulting in
the need for maintained websites, requiring not only server space, but maintenance and
updates to these sites as well.
GOVERNMENT
• Computers help these workers expedite these tasks, as most government-issued computers
contain numerous software programs like word processing, spreadsheets and database
management programs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
• Computer uses in government offices also include various e-mail functions, payment
distribution, record keeping and even coordinating mailings.
HEALTHCARE
• Healthcare professionals review and prescribe medications using electronic health records.
• They also use apps and software programs to manage patient records.
• This technology not only boosts staff efficiency, but it also helps to prevent human error.
• Nurses can also use technology to perform routine health checks such as EKGs, oxygen levels,
and blood pressure.
• This process is known as Computer Assisted Surgery, or CAS, and is quickly becoming popular in
the medical field.
CONCLUSION
Use of computer on a regular basis in our life is very important. Technically in daily life computer is
used to convert raw facts and data into meaningful information and knowledge. Computer science is
explored and challenged by humans daily. This is one of the proofs that the use of the computer in
our life and business is really effective. That’s why more and more people are buying and using a
computer. If the uses of the computer are for good purposes then it is a boon for humans. From the
government to the private sector everyone is using the computer. Users of the computer are
constantly growing.
