Labsa Plant

The document describes three different plants: 1. A manual LABSA 90 plant that uses a batch reactor for the reaction of H2SO4 and L.A.B with water added to remove excess H2SO4. 2. A semi-automated LABSA 96 plant where the reaction between L.A.B and SO3 from the H2SO4 plant occurs in a reactor at high temperature and concentration. 3. A surfactant plant that produces LABSA 96%, SLS, and SLES using multiple tube plug flow reactors for continuous production and CSTR reactors for homogenization. It also describes the manual sulfuric acid plant that uses the contact process to produce H2SO4.

LABSA 90

Manual plant

Raw materials include H2SO4 and L.A.B
Raw materials from storage tank into batch reactor
Reaction is carried out in CSTR between H2S04 and
L.A.B.Water is also added to remove excess H2SO4.
LABSA 90 is collected in storage tanks from separating
tanks
LABSA 96
Semiautomated Plant

Reaction between L.A.B and SO3
SO3 from H2SO4 plant .It’s conc. and temp is high so
gas is first cooled down and for the formation of
LABSA 96% it is then send to reactor
SURFACTANT

LABSA 96% ,SLS and SLES(1M ,2M and 3M) are
produced here
These products are manufactured by
sulfonation/sulfation reaction by SO3 using multiple
tube plug flow reactor for continuous production
and CSTR reactor for homogenization
SULFURIC ACID
Manual plant

H2SO4 is produced by contact process
Stages of H2SO4 formation are given below:
S+O2 SO2
SO2 + O2 (V2O5) SO3
SO3 + H2SO4 H2S2O7 (Oleum)
H2S2O7 + H2O H2SO4
